New: I Stumble is here.

‘I Stumble’ is an algorithm developed by the West Midlands Ambulance Service to help care home staff safely and effectively assess a fallen resident for injury. It gives clear instruction as to when to call 999. It allows care home staff to identify an uninjured resident and safely pick up the resident using appropriate lifting equipment.

The algorithm has been adopted in over 20 locations country wide. The use of I Stumble has been demonstrated to reduce the length of time residents are left on the floor. It also reduces the number of non -conveyed attendances for falls by ambulances. It is easy to use and the audit form that has been developed as part of the package acts as the evidence for the actions taken by staff at the time of the fall and forms part of the resident’s care record.

If you wish to use I Stumble, a full resource package is available on the Care Providers page on Knowledge Anglia: choose your CCG area, click on Providers/Services and then click on Care Providers.
