Online Death Cafe event
An online Death Cafe is taking place on Thursday 7th May.
The local Death Cafe organisers have sent out this message:
As we are currently unable to predict when it may be possible for people to gather together once more we have decided to run a Death Cafe event online. The event will take place at 10.30am on Thursday 7th May, the same date that we would have been running a Death Cafe at the Forum for Dying Matters Awareness Week.
Some of you may have been hoping to join us in person at this event which is always a highlight of our year as we get to see many familiar faces as well as meeting new people, having some interesting conversations and eating some extremely delicious cake! We will be sad not to have the opportunity to do that this year but hope to recreate some of the elements of a Death Cafe at our online event (especially the cake which I'm afraid you'll have to provide yourself!)
The event will take place on Zoom which some of you may be familiar with. For those of you who have not yet had the pleasure of attending an event on Zoom it's fairly user friendly and has already been used to run a number of other Death Cafe events around the world. It even has a 'breakout room' function which means that guests can chat in small groups thus re-creating, to some extent, the feel of a real Death Cafe.
For those of you on Facebook you can find the event page here...
