Tapping into Technology - A new way of recruiting?

A new app, Care Friends, has been developed to enable social care staff to recommend a friend to jobs by linking into their social networks. The concept came from Neil Eastwood who wrote 'Saving Social Care', and has been part-funded by EU regional development money and Skills for Care.

Based on evidence showing employee referral schemes are the most successful way to recruit, workers download the app and share job vacancies with their contacts and social networks. Working on the same principle as a reward card, they earn points for referring a friend.  The app incentivises them by offering rewards for different stages of the recruitment process. Points are paid in the following month’s pay, or can be saved.

Pilot places are fully booked, but if you are interested in finding out more see

Helen Haycock, Recruitment and Retention Coordinator at Norfolk County Council, will be keeping a close eye on results and reporting back when more is known.
